Alice WEASE CHERRY PDF Print E-mail

Mrs. Alice Wease Cherry, 75, a resident of Fairfield many years, the widow of former Fairfield auto mechanic John Wease, died at 9:08 a.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital.

In recent months, Mrs. Wease married Ira Cherry, a neighbor and friend for many years.

She had been in poor health for a long time.  She was in the hospital's intensive care unit when she died.

Graveside services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday (today) at Maple Hill Cemetery, with Bro. Ron Mills officiated.  Johnson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.  There was no visitation.

Mrs. Cherry was born in Clay County July 23, 1905.

She was a housewife.  Her late husband, John Wease, was a mechanic for Hoffee Motor Sales for many years.  He died several months ago.

Mr. Cherry is a retired employee of the Fairfield Post Office.  He still works in the Fairfield area as a locksmith.

Surviving are her husband, Ira; one son, Dean Upton, of Champaign; a daughter, Phyllis Trinkle, of Conroe, TX; one brother, Leland Carter, of O'Fallon; and two sisters, Melinda Miller, of Flora; and Rose Vandeveer, of East St. Louis.
